Eye Speed 2.1.1

This application offers a platform for assessing visual reaction times, providing valuable insights into cognitive processing speed. Primarily designed as a tool for eye care professionals and vision researchers, it aims to facilitate the development of innovative visual tests and support ongoing studies in the field of visual health. By participating, users also have the opportunity to contribute to high-level scientific research.

The Pre-Trial stage allows for customizable settings, including Noise Square Width, Target Width, and Black Area to Total Area Ratio, enabling users to adjust difficulty levels. It is important to note that each parameter has defined bounds; exceeding these will trigger a warning and reset the settings to defaults.

The main trial phase begins when the user initiates it by clicking the 'Start Trial' button. During this phase, visual stimuli—comprising black and white squares set against a noisy background—are displayed intermittently. Participants are tasked with counting the number of Target squares and selecting the corresponding number (|1| |2| |3|) by pressing the relevant tab. The sequence continues until the predetermined number of trials is completed or until the user opts to end the session early via the 'End Trial' button. A minimum of five trials is recommended to ensure data reliability and meaningful contribution to research efforts.

The Post-Trial stage provides an overview of performance metrics. Users who complete at least five trials can choose to send their data via email, which includes a CSV file detailing reaction times, correctness, and configuration variables from the session. Users are advised to review our privacy policy for details concerning data collection and handling. Following data submission, the application calculates a performance score ranging from 0 to 100, reflecting both speed and accuracy.
